The route passes through the Chinese Quarter and Gay Village, via the Hippodrome Theatre, towards New Street Station.įrom New Street Station, the athletes will pass through Paradise Circus and complete a loop in front of Centenary Square, taking in the ICC, REP and Library of Birmingham, before continuing north toward the Jewellery Quarter, passing the Chamberlain Clock and St Pauls Church after 41 km, before making their way into the City Centre for the final kilometre. The City Centre SectionĪfter completing the second lap of the southern section – 36km - the athletes will continue straight over the Belgrave Middleway back onto Sherlock Street and then turn left onto Hurst Street. The athletes will then head back towards the Pershore Road via Bournville Village Green and Sycamore Road, continuing north, past Edgbaston and back to the Belgrave Interchange for the start of the second lap. The athletes will continue along Pershore Rd towards Stirchley and Bournville and enter the most southern section of this large loop. Only 2km into the course, the athletes will go past the internationally renowned Edgbaston Stadium, home of the women’s cricket T20 competition for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.Īfter going past Edgbaston Stadium, the athletes will turn left into Cannon Hill Park. VM does not accept or entertain any liabilities arising from accidents/injuries for any participant owing to his/her circumstances or conditions under which they are undertaking the run.At the end of Sherlock Street the route passes over the Belgrave Middleway via Belgrave Interchange and onto the Pershore Road (A441), the start of the looped section of the course. It is solely the runner’s responsibility for wearing/not wearing a mask and taking other required precautions when running, as per the government regulations and medical advisories in place at the time. Any runner, who has recovered from Covid-19, must get the authorization from a medical practitioner, to certify his/her health and fitness before running. All or any symptoms of ill-health, including but not limited to symptoms of Coronavirus, must be referred to an authorized medical practitioner, and treated accordingly. It is solely the runner’s responsibility to ensure he/she is in good health and is medically fit to run the distance he/she has registered for. All participants should comply with guidelines in relation to COVID19 advisory issued by respective union, state and/or local administrations. It is solely the runner’s responsibility to follow all the government guidelines and regulations, that may be in place at any time. While we issue this advisory, should the Government issue any new ones in public awareness, we strongly urge that the same be followed in the interest of general safety. VM2023 is a Ground Event and therefore this advisory is of utmost importance. While these are not restrictions as experienced during the pandemic Vadodara Marathon advises ALL participants/spectators to ensure they exercise safe practices to self protect, and therefore also help within the community by stemming any such illnesses. Due to the ongoing global/national alert on new variants of Covid-19 and the potential threat to the population, the Health Ministry of the Government of India have been issuing various statements and alerts on all media formats to exercise caution and restart the key self protection processes to protect oneself i.e.- wearing masks indoors/outdoors, certainly staying masked in crowded places, washing hands frequently and exercising caution & alertness at all times.
